Caron takes DIRTCar Pro-Stock Series victory and Dunn takes Dale Planck 77
Hogansburg, NY – Robert Hill Jr. – September 13, 2025 – The Mohawk International Raceway hosted day #2 of the Mega Race Weekend presented by REZ X Racing, Thompson Motorsports, Corner Convenience & More, featuring the DIRTCar Pro-Stock Series and a 77-lap Dale Planck tribute race in the DIRTCar 358 Modifieds, which took center stage. Over 170 cars registered for the evening’s festivities in front of another full grandstand of race fans.
The Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour made their only visit of the season with 14 cars entered. Heat wins went to Brian Comeau and Ian Gordon, allowing them to lead the field to green for their 25-lap feature event. Gordon took control of the lead on lap 1, while Ryan Hegarty spun on lap 4 but quickly regained momentum, keeping the field green. Gordon led from flag to flag, taking the win.
Limited Sportsman continued to showcase strong numbers on night #2 of the Mega Race Weekend, with 23 cars. Heat wins went to Bryan Tarbell, Jackson Welling, and Justin Lazore. Tarbell and Welling led the field to the green flag; Tarbell jumped out to an early lead before Lea-Jeanne Tarbell took a wild ride on the backstretch, flipping after being collected by another car. She was okay. On the restart, Tarbell took the lead over Welling and Greysen Adderley. Caution flew again on lap 5 when Steven Tremblay spun at the top of turn 2. On the restart, Tarbell regained control as Adderley challenged for the top spot on lap 6. Garin Thompson spun at the bottom of turn 4 on lap 9, bringing out another yellow. Tarbell held on to the top spot for the final laps, securing his third win of the season.
Thirty-seven DIRTCar 358 Modifieds were on hand for the Dale Planck Memorial race. Heat wins went to Jordan McCreadie, Franklin Mackin, Billy Dunn, and Tim Fuller. Corey Wheeler and Franklin Mackin led the field to green; Wheeler led the opening lap before Dunn took the top spot on lap 2. The caution flew on lap 5 after contact between Scott Webb and Dustin Bradley sent Bradley into a tire and off the track. On the restart, Dunn fired off a near-perfect restart, pulling away from Wheeler until a yellow on lap 21 for Chris Raabe, who slowed on the track with a broken front end. Jackson Gill had a great restart, splitting his way through the field three-wide to move into second before a caution on lap 30 for Brian McDonald, who went off the track in turn 2. A lap 42 restart mishap by Dunn caused a large pileup, with McDonald flipping and landing on top of the nose of Cedric Gauvreau’s machine. Dunn and Gill led the field back to the green with 35 laps remaining. Dunn launched well, but Tim Fuller closed in as there were 20 laps remaining. Dunn continued to lead until the end, earning his 25th win of his Mohawk career in a race dedicated to Dale Planck, a competitor he spent many years battling. Tim Fuller and Jackson Gill rounded out the podium.
The DIRTCar Pro-Stock Series made an appearance on night #2 with an impressive 38-car turnout. Heats went to Tyler Bushey, Bastien Caron, Kyle Hoard, and Zack Daniels. Redraw results placed Tyler Bushey and Devon Camenga on the front row for the 35-lap feature. Bushey gained a strong start, pulling away from a multi-car battle for second involving Daniels, Caron, and others. A caution for a spun car on the backstretch on lap 8 slowed the race. On the restart, Daniels jumped out to the lead before another yellow on lap 10 for Anthony Mossow and Tommy Lizotte, who got hooked together. Daniels again led on the lap-10 restart, but Caron moved to the high side and eventually passed Daniels for the top spot. Sharp closed in on Daniels for second, eventually passing him to move into second. In the end, Caron held on to sweep the weekend, with Sharp finishing second and Daniels third.
DIRTCar Sportsman was well represented with 35 cars. Heat wins went to Nick Mallette, Brennan Moore, Jamy Begor, Keven Letendre, and Travis Bruno. Moore took an early lead over Mallette, while Letendre made a move to second on lap 3. Bruno worked the high side to challenge Letendre for second on lap 8. Bruno then completed the pass and was the fastest car on track before a lap-16 yellow for Dylan Moore, who spun on the backstretch. On the restart, Bruno moved to the top and took the lead from Moore, holding on to secure the checkered flag— a special moment for the driver who is normally the Chief Starter at Mohawk International Raceway.
Mini-stocks also had a strong showing with 27 cars. Heat wins went to Mathieu Voghell, Corey Valade, Antoine Dumochel, and Sebastien-Raymond Beauregard. Voghell and Valade led the field to green; Voghell quickly jumped out to the early lead, while Beauregard used the high side to advance to second over Valade. A caution on lap 5 for CJ Lavair, who slowed on the track, paused the race. On the restart, Voghell struggled to get going, losing some positions, while Beauregard took the lead over Dumochel on lap 6. Another caution flew on lap 6 for a multi-car incident in turn 1. Dumochel took control of the field on the restart, with Voghell closing in with five laps to go. Voghell then used the inside line to take the race lead in the closing laps and held on for the win.
